Neuberger Berman’s $164 Mln commodities fund can invest up to five of its assets in Bitcoin [BTC], futures & funds, the asset manager revealed earlier on Friday, following up the cryptocurrency play that began last week.
“Effective immediately,” Neuberger Berman Commodity Strategy Fund might invest in bitcoin futures and Canada’s bitcoin ETF [Exchange traded Funds], the regulatory filing outlined.
The fund got an initial go-ahead to chase Bitcoin and Ethereum [ETH], exposure through derivative products on 11th August. Ethereum now appears to be off the table; Friday’s bitcoin-only filing outlined it replaces” the original.
While certain ETFs are now on the fund’s whitelist, it still cannot invest directly in virtual assets – likely due to concerns.
The new filing reveals that Neuberger Berman – a $400 Bln asset manager – is seriously eyeing crypto-related investments if not already participating in its greenlit products.
