Huawei ‘Mate 40’ Smartphones Will Supporting CBDC.

China’s digital yuan looks even nearer than ever to launch with the new hottest news that Huawei will be supporting the CBDC on an upcoming range of smartphones.

According to a recent official announcement on Huawei’s Weibo channel, the Mate 40 line of devices will include a built-in hardware wallet with “hardware-level security, controllable anonymous protection, and dual offline transactions,” the tech giant added.

It’s the newest sign that the CBDC, developed by the People’s Bank of China, is probably going to be technically ready for launch.

Within the recent few weeks, a public trial within the city of Shenzhen saw 10 Mln digital yuan given away to residents in the form oflottery.

Individuals could spend any winnings with smartphone apps at thousands of stores already associated with point-of-sale devices that will handle the digital currency.

The Mate 40 was revealed earlier this month and can be the newest flagship from Huawei, alongside the professional and Pro Plus models, consistent with TechRadar.

However, the final release date still remains unclear, but the prices are expected to start out at just over $1k. It’s also not clear if devices shipped to other regions will sport the CBDC wallet or not.
